Snack bars are great with our busy lifestyles, but with so many bars on the market, how do you choose the best? ( I am not affiliated with any of these companies)
First of all, READ the ingredient label! I choose bars that are vegan, with minimal ingredients (real ingredients that I know exactly what they are), free from added sugars, and preferably organic (always a challenge).
Here are a few I like… with the pros and cons:
GO Raw bars. Shown in the picture are the bites but you can purchase the bars at Whole Foods Markets, Sprouts and Amazon. Theses are great because they are not only organic, but most contain under 6 ingredients. They have great flavor, but can be a bit on the chewy side. Banana Bread is my favorite flavor.
ONA bars. Absolutely LOVE these bars! Organic, minimal real ingredients and really great flavor. They can be a bit on the heavy side, which makes them great to share.
Thunderbird bars. I recently discovered these at our local health food store, The Good Earth. They are Non-GMO verified, they taste great, and a lot of the flavors are low in calorie. My favorite I have tried so far, is the Almond Apricot Vanilla with only 161 calories and 8.5 grams of fat. It has 6 simple ingredients: Apricots, Almonds, Almond Butter, Quinoa, Vanilla and Himalayan Sea Salt. Can’t wait to try the rest of the flavors!
RXbars. These protein bars are another great product. Again, minimal simple ingredients, high in protein, and great on flavor. The only down side is they are not organic and can be a bit chewy. My favorite flavors are Mint Chocolate and Chocolate Sea salt.
Larabars. I love that they are coming out with better options. They now have a fruit and greens variety and some flavors are organic. These bars are available at all major grocery stores and again, taste great.
Kind Bars. I know they are many of you out there that enjoy the nut version of the bars. I just personally think they are a bit high on sugar and fat, and it is disappointing that they do not have any organic products available. They recently came out with their cold pressed fruit and veggie bars. They are low in calories and allow you to get a serving of fruit in, without the high fat content.
Not shown, another great bar, is the Clif Organic Fruit and Nut Bars. Great on flavor, minimal ingredients and even organic!
I hope this helps you to find what’s best for you and your lifestyle. Give these bars a try and let me know what you think!
