Lemon Green Smoothie


I am LOVING this green smoothie recipe!  The flavor from the lemon is fresh and magnificent (who uses that word…apparently I do, and it is justified here)!  I have a green smoothie everyday. To save time, I chop up everything at the beginning of the week and throw it in a ziplock bag, so I can just grab it out of my freezer, and throw it in my beautiful Vitamix!  It makes two generous servings, so I only have to make one every other day.  I use an old honey or mason jar to store the leftovers… and the best part, it remains sludge free the next day! Unfortunately for me, some of my concoctions have not been so lucky…

1  organic kale leaf, stem removed
1 cup organic baby spinach
2 stalks of organic celery
½ organic cucumber, chopped and peeled
1 organic lemon, peel cut off and seeds removed
1 frozen organic banana
1 cup of organic pineapple, fresh or frozen (works best frozen)
2 tablespoons organic chia seeds, soaked in almond milk
1 tablespoon organic shelled hemp seeds
1 cup organic almond milk
1 cup filtered water

Add liquids first, then greens, blend and add remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth.
